HULL PROJECT
The story begins with a small thought that crossed Hull’s mind. Hull had only recently started his new job, and every day brought new challenges to tackle. Work, daily life, and all those issues he’d never had to think too much about before – it seemed like they’d all come crashing down on him all at once. He had hopes for the future, but of course, he also felt a bit lost. After all, once you grow up, you realize that life doesn’t come with an instruction manual. Sometimes Hull would wonder… “What if I weren’t who I am right now?” Wouldn’t it be fun to temporarily become someone else and live a completely different life? Maybe he could be a cowboy, riding a horse and heading out into the wilderness. Maybe he could be an astronaut, to see what lies beyond Earth. Or perhaps a pirate, a clown, a boxer, or even a chef. Just imagining it already felt kind of fun. But these were just things he could only daydream about. Until one day, Her encountered something special – a spherical mech. It was round and looked kind of cute, making him want to take a second look. Hel didn’t know where it came from or what it was actually capable of. Driven by curiosity, he climbed inside. At that very moment, the mech began to activate… Before long, Hel realized he had changed. It wasn’t just a change of clothes or putting on a hat—he had truly become a different character. The world he saw had changed, and the things he felt were different, too. Only then did Hel realize that this spherical mech was like a door. As long as he sat inside, he had the chance to experience a different identity. This was incredible. Hel, who had originally just wanted to give it a try, couldn’t help but start searching for more mechs. “What if I switched to another character?” So, he tried it again and again… Each mech transformed him into a different character. And every transformation felt like borrowing another life, if only for a moment. As a cowboy, he wanted to forge ahead. As an astronaut, he began to yearn to explore the unknown. As a pirate, he set out to pursue his own goals. As a clown, he discovered that things didn’t always have to be taken so seriously. As a clown, he discovered that things didn’t always have to be taken so seriously. And as a chef, he realized that good things are meant to be shared. Hel gradually came to realize that what he truly loved wasn’t just “becoming someone.” It was what he would encounter after becoming that person… And so, Hel embarked on an experience that was a bit strange, yet unexpectedly fun. He decided to give them a name—the Mecha Squad. Hel was still the same young man embarking on a new chapter in his life, and the difficult choices he faced in daily life didn’t suddenly disappear just because he’d transformed. But at least now, he had another approach: when he couldn’t figure something out, he’d look at it from a different angle. When he didn’t know what the future held, he’d just imagine it. Maybe it was about what he liked, maybe it was about the kind of person he wanted to become, or maybe it was simply because he found it fun… Whatever the reason, it was all fine.
