Within the notorious Yamato Gray Zone, known for its heavy acid rain contamination, nuclear fallout, and continuous volcanic eruptions – some of the worst pollution in the world – the Red Crow Hazmat Ronin remain faithful in their allegiance to the Cabinet and Republic. Their enemies include not only the terrorists raging in the hazard zones, but also bandits equipped with CBRN weapons. They show no hesitation in seeking them out to strike them down.

To prepare themselves for entering the hazardous zone, they utilize specialized equipment to guard against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) threats. Fully aware that even the smallest tear to their protective gear could result in their demise, the fearless Red Crow Hazmat Ronin Squad ritually sever all ties with family and clans, saying goodbye to their former lives. Left with no chance to continue their own bloodline, they bear the responsibility of protecting the nation, and believe the spirit of the samurai will be reborn after their death.

大和戈雷區在酸雨、核爆輻射和火山爆發三重污染下，其污染程度堪稱世界之最。因為礦產開發而在其附近聚集了一系列產業，同時也是恐怖分子隱藏的絕佳避難所，因此這些區域也是犯罪重災區。這些地方發生的緊急特殊事件或是涉及使用生化以及輻射性武器的敵人，就要交由配備了防禦化學、生物、放射性和核武器裝備的赤鴉防化浪人處理。儘管有專業的特殊裝備，但在作戰中哪怕造成了微小的破損，成員也將九死一生。受到振興大和號召的武士們，在加入前會進行儀式，切斷與家人與氏族的聯繫，告別以前的生活。他們知道可能再也沒有機會延續自己的血脈，相信武士精神會在他們死後重生。
