Unlike the fully individualized self-conscious bionics like Eric K, the Oaks are a group of bionics developed with a unique networked consciousness similar to a super swarm intelligence. Developed and manufactured by the Black Soul Organization, the Oaks were designed and subsequently mass produced to carry out tasks – using their collective knowledge – efficiently, intelligently, and sustainably – in order to save as many worlds as possible.

Sustainability is a key part of the Oaks mechanical design: each Oak bionic contains within it carefully selected seeds that, upon the model breaking down or upon completion of its mission it will, if possible, carry the seeds to a suitable piece of land, then themselves degrade into nourishing nurtrients so that the seeds can grow into plants and thus pay homage to Mother Earth’s gift of life. The scientists behind the Oaks believe that rather than master the land, humans (and indeed, bionics) should strive to live in peaceful harmony with nature.
